![]() I also never got to the point where I actually resonated with the characters. ![]() In Rain Wilds, we have entire paragraphs dedicated to who's sleeping with who now, why is he with her, why is she with him, is he thinking about her the same way, on and on and on. In Liveships, the relationships took place more in the periphery, maybe a sentence or two here wondering about it, while the main action took center stage, and the romance was just hinted at and slowly built on its own. I got so annoyed with how obsessed everyone was with relationships. I loved that they claimed Kelsingra as their home.īut reading the day-to-day minutia of what happens was absolutely grating. I loved that the broken and misshappen dragons came into their own, that the broken and misshapen Rain Wild kids matured into full on Elderlings. And 4 books nonetheless!Īnd now that I've finished it, I'm really.disappointed? Like I loved the events objectively that unfolded. I was incredibly sad to leave it behind to go into Tawny Man (which, admittedly, I enjoyed much more than I had anticipated), but I knew that Rain Wild would return to the same world and somewhat same cast. I loved the third person perspective, loved the rich and vibrant worldbuilding, loved the Vestrits and the characters and Liveships. So I've finished Rain Wild Chronicles, which I had been highly anticipating since I absolutely loved the Liveship trilogy, and I'm having a hard time putting my thoughts together.įor me, Liveship was my favorite trilogy out of all of the series as a whole.
